Are you a hands-on maintenance professional who thrives in a fast-paced, live events environment? We're looking for a proactive and skilled Maintenance Assistant to help keep our venue safe, functional, and ready for unforgettable experiences—day in and day out.
What you'll do:
Hands-On Maintenance & Repairs
- Carry out minor reactive and planned maintenance tasks such as carpentry, decorating, plumbing, and general repairs.
- Make safe any hazards and assist with cleaning when required.
- Ensure the venue is maintained to the highest standards, with priority areas regularly monitored and cared for.
Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM)
- Support the Building Services Manager in developing and managing schedules for preventative maintenance across the venue's fabric, M&E systems, and capital equipment.
- Assist in compiling and reviewing contractors' reports and service delivery related to the M&E PPM programme.
Safety & Compliance
- Conduct regular building and safety inspections, including pre-event checks and health & safety audits.
- Support in the Event Fire Officer duties and help ensure the venue is secure and fully operational each day.
- Carry out weekly testing of building systems and help maintain all statutory documentation and compliance records.
- Support a positive health and safety culture across the team.
Contractor & Budget Support
- Assist with managing both in-house and contracted maintenance services, monitoring performance and acting as needed.
- Help source quotes from preferred contractors, ensuring value for money.
- Support with budget tracking and spend across maintenance activities.
What You'll Bring:
- Practical experience in building maintenance, ideally in a high-traffic, public-facing venue.
- A recognised building qualification or relevant experience in building, facilities, or construction.
- Working knowledge of general health & safety legislation.
- Experience with reviewing Risk Assessments & Method Statements (RAMS).
- Familiarity with Asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) and safe practices around them.
- Experience supporting in-house and sub-contracted teams with a performance mindset.
- Exposure to budget and contractor management.
- Strong track record in service delivery and customer care.
- Confident using MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Commercially aware and able to understand and respond to the needs of both internal and external stakeholders.
